Bob Weiss, A E Stevenson High School

Mr. Bob Weiss was perhaps the most influential person in my life. He taught science in a way that made it both amazing and fun for every student. He was also the funniest guy I had ever met up to that point in life.

Because of his warmth, and dedication to his students and profession, I decided then that I would become a biology teacher when I grew up.

Dan Shepard, Westminster High School

Mr. Shepard was always an inspiration to me, as a young adult as well as his biology student. I was always interested in science, and grew up taking gifted education classes all my life, but it wasn’t until Mr. Shepard taught me biology that I truly wanted to become a science educator.

She was my senior project advisor, took me to research competitions, and wrote me countless letters of recommendations, at least an oak tree’s worth of paper.

What I appreciate about Mrs. Cameron was that she was firm and fair. Since day one, Mrs. Cameron held our class to high expectations, and would not release for those three years. What made her relentless discipline valuable, however, was that she would not flaunt her discipline, providing reasoning for why it was important. She simply showed through her instruction, her tutoring, and her offering herself as an advisor, that she would hold us to high expectations, and ensure that we achieve those goals.
