Dear Mrs. Gandy:
I attended your third grade class at Forest Hills in Augusta, Georgia. You’ve taught thousands of students, so I doubt you remember me. Conversely, you’ve had such a huge impact on my life that I’ll never forget you.
When I went back to school to get my master’s degree two years ago, I was encouraged to apply to become a teaching fellow. In the interviews, I was asked who my favorite teacher was, and why. That was easy. It was—and is—you, Mrs. Gandy (and by the way, I got the gig!).
